Most would try the lower concentrations first, at 10% carbamide peroxide, and see if it causes them sensitivity. However, many people have reported that they've experienced using 20% concentration with no problem at all.
When you use teeth whitening products, your teeth actually becomes more sensitive to hot and cold. A few extra-sensitive people may even experience pain upon breathing in cool air. This is because the chemical compounds contained teeth bleaching products cause your teeth to be a bit more porous, thus exposing your sensitive nerves more to the air around. You can prevent this problem by trying the lower-strength formulations first, and then gradually moving up if you feel you're not encountering any problems at all. Take note though, that all this pain or sensitivity will just disappear eventually.
If you're a cigarette smoker, you might want to stop smoking for the meantime if you're planning to undergo a teeth whitening process. You might want to stop completely, for many other health reasons. Nicotine can cause your mouth tissue to be more fragile, and using these two together can be the perfect recipe for oral disaster.
Also, try to be realistic about your goals. Increasing up to 4-5 shades of white is quite enough. You don't really need to have teeth that are as white as snow. If you use those custom-fit trays with carbamide peroxide gel, you can achieve a 4-shade whitening in about 2 weeks. If you want an instant effect though, you might want to try a teeth whitening procedure offered at your local dental clinics. This is in no way cheap, but you can definitely see results after only 45 minutes of treatment. However, there's the disadvantage of getting more sensitivity and possibly burning your gums a bit during this process, but hey, beauty has its price. A hefty one, at that.
If you don't have the budget for a dentist's whitening process, they might offer some affordable dental plans. You can save up to $500, depending upon the treatment plan you choose. You can also try comparing prices online. Many dental clinics now have their own websites, so you can see and compare how much their services cost. If it makes you feel more confident about yourself, then it is well worth spending some money for.
The process of teeth whitening is relatively safe, provided that you follow the instructions carefully. The risk of encountering serious health side effects would only be a negligible amount if you follow your dentist's advice religiously and vigilantly. Don' forget to always ask your dentist first before experimenting with different methods of teeth whitening. It's always better to be safe rather than sorry.

Bleaching Trays-22% CARBAMIDE PEROXIDE--bad for your teeth?
Ebay has a whitening kit that is sold to dentists. Its a bleaching tray kit and you wear it for fifteen to thirty minutes once a day. Its actually suprisingly cheap considering its a professional one, but they say its because they get it straight from the manufacturer. Do this ruin your teeth because of the high percentage of carbamide peroxide? or should it be fine?
i've used the whitestrips a few times before and they also worked, but they're like twenty dollars and i'm short on cash cuz of school and all this other stuff right now, trying to save money.
it may create sensitve teeth for a while but as long as its used only on the crown of the tooth it is reversible, if it gets on your gums it can burn them and do some damage, I would only use something like that under the care of a professional, white strips are good and if youve never tried them use that first then if those dont work for you go to a dentist for stronger stuff
