Step 1 : Fitted trays
The maximum results comes from using fitted trays. You can obtain a pair of fitted trays from a local dentist or order them from an Internet company, perhaps you can purchase a plastic mouthpiece that can be boiled and shaped to your teeth.
Of course the fitted trays will provide quicker results, but the latter will ultimately work to whiten your teeth also. The goal is to have the bleach directly on the teeth. The direct contact of the surface of the tooth to the bleach makes the teeth brighter.
Step 2 : Purchased the teeth bleaching gel
You can purchased a teeth whitening gel at a local dentist, but many dentists will only sell bleach to customers who have already purchased bleaching trays. If you purchased your trays on the Internet or at a market, you can also buy bleach from those companies. Supermarkets now sell good quality teeth whitening syringes, but be careful and do your homework. Not all whitening gel is effective.
Step 3 : Make sure your trays are form fitted to your teeth
It is important to make sure your teeth whitening trays are form fitted to your teeth and are cut around the tooth line so no part of the tray extends onto the gums. Even the mildest bleach can irritate the gums if left on long enough. Although most of the newer brands of teeth bleach are concentrated and require only a few hours of bleaching time each day, some bleaching gel can be worn overnight. If the gums are exposed to the bleach for too long, temporary gum damage can occur. However, once you stop bleaching, your gums will heal.
Step 4 : Pay attention to the percentage
When choosing a teeth whitening gel it is important to pay attention to the percentage marked on the tube. An optimal percentage is 16 percent. Some bleach comes as low as 10 percent. This bleach usually takes more time to whiten teeth and . Bleach that comes at 20 percent or higher is very strong and can cause tooth sensitivity.
Step 5 : Bleach one arch first and then the other
Some people like to bleach one arch first and then the other. This way they can compare the color of each arch to better see the results. Bleaching both arches at the same time of course is also an option.

home teeth whitening kits: how do you use them?
I have seen a great deal on KGB deals for a home teeth whitening kit and really tempted to buy it. The only thing stopping me is that it comes with:
3 maxium dental strength whitening gel syringes
> 2 Teeth whitening trays
> 1 syringe of de-sensitising gel
> Shade chart
> led laser light (shown to increase whitening by up to 300%)
> Full instructions
Where it says syringe, does that mean it will have something in so i can guide like a pen or does that mean i will have to insert something in my gums? As if this is the case I would rather save and go dentist, as surely that is dangerous?

First off, the syringe just holds the whitening gel, you squeeze it into the trays. No needle, no injections. You are safe.
You're on the right track with this type of kit, but check out a few things first.
Are the trays moldable to your teeth? The cheap ones are not.
What kind of whitening gel is it? Is it carbimide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide? I like Carbimide peroxide better (less tooth sensitivity).
The light doesn't do anything. There is a big debate around this subject. I can tell you the small lights that take batteries do not do anything. There may be a case that the larger lights like the ones Dentists use help speed up the process a bit, but basically it's a marketing trick.
It has been reported that the Zoom type lights the Dentists use dehydrate your teeth, this makes them look whiter. However this doesn't last more that a day or so. Just a trick.
I believe the best way to whiten is to buy an at home kit like the one you are looking at. I would check some different products on-line before you buy the kit at KGB. Do some research on the internet and find a good company, there are many. There are also lots of scams, so be careful.
I would never go to a Dentist again for tooth whitening, I went once. It's a waste of money, and the results are nothing better than what you can do yourself at home. Oh, not to mention the tooth pain and sensitivty for two days after!
