Carbamide Peroxide Teeth Whitening Agent
Carbamide peroxide teeth whitening agent is a chemical having peroxide bonding with urea and is found in many teeth whitening preparations in the form of gel, powder or liquid. Carbamide gel is highly effective in whitening the teeth and hence is preferred by people in comparison to other gel preparations.
The stains on teeth can be caused by number of stain causing items like strong liquids, smoke etc. The teeth whitening action of Carbamide peroxide is very fast the result is visible just after 5 applications and is of almost permanent nature. The stains may reoccur if strong liquids are taken or smoking is done. These stains can be easily removed again by use of Carbamide peroxide.
Teeth Whitening Products:
There are plenty of chemical based products available in the market with exclusive function of teeth whitening. Carbamide peroxide is similar to very commonly used hydrogen peroxide used for number of actions like cleansing of wounds, ears for doing gargle or cleaning of teeth. Results obtained with Carbamide peroxide are marvelous.
Carbamide peroxide present in teeth whitening gels is an oxidizing agent. It also finds use in dental procedures to cause bleaching of teeth by oxidizing the stains, which can be easily removed and then washed away.
The Carbamide peroxide gel has a very fast action and the results are visible in a matter of just 5 minutes only. Once whitening has been produced with Carbamide peroxide it is retained for months.
Carbamide peroxide is produced by action of hydrogen peroxide on urea. The mode of action of Carbamide peroxide is due to release of oxygen, when it comes in contact with water on the teeth surface. Thus oxidation action sets in process causing bleaching of the teeth enamel in the process the stains and the discoloration gets removed.
Carbamide peroxide is highly effective substance used to get rid of tooth discoloration and is preferably used by dentists for getting the teeth cleaned to cause whitening effect. It is commonly used in teeth whitening products dispensed over-the-counter including teeth whitening kits.
A strong Oxidizing Agent:
Hydrogen peroxide is a strong substance and due to this reason only it is available in strength of 3% for general use. This fact reflects the strength and potential of peroxide compounds. It means handling these compounds can be dangerous if they are not properly diluted.
Considering this Carbamide peroxide products are available in different strengths ranging from 10 % to 15 %. The concentration less than 10 % is not effective. There are other concentrations of Carbamide peroxide ranging from 22 % to 35 %, which require lot of care in use and are dispensed or used at dentist-in-office clinics considering the safety aspects in their use by persons.
Safety Considerations:
Although strong concentration of Carbamide peroxide offers fast and astounding results, but the same is not free from high risks associated with its use while whitening the teeth. These besides bleaching enamel do the stripping off enamel because of unchecked extensive use. With the enamel getting stripped it is no more possible to get bright exclusive white smiles. Now the teeth shall look yellowish, brownish and lacking the luster.
These higher concentrations pose a risk of irritated gums, inside of lips and soft tissues of mouth due to excess solution present in the mouth. The dentist gives a warning of the possibility and advises to report any such reaction for further corrective advice.
Use of Carbamide peroxide has been proved as safe by a number of studies of long duration conducted to observe the safety factor and has been reported safe even in persons with weak teeth and gums. Persons having sensitive gums may encounter a slight discomfort, which is short term and one can tolerate.
Though products based on Carbamide peroxide offer a quick and easy way to whiten your teeth, nothing can beat prevention which can be done by simply cleaning your teeth as much as possible.

Has Any One Tried The Teeth Whitening Gel? 35% Carbamide Peroxide?
Does it even work it says here its 35% carbamide peroxide
for the ppl that have used it does it really work?
I have not had any patient use more than 22% on their whitening solution. I am not sure about this product, but i have only one major concern for you. The 22% that we sell in the office makes patients teeth extremely sensitive to temperatures after they have used it. I can only guess that the 35% would cause just as much if not more sensitivity after use. Be careful to wipe off the solution off your gums when you apply the trays. The 35% will definitely cause trauma, maybe even "burn" the tissue at that high of a percent. I have had a patient that needed gum surgery on her lower front teeth because of the damage the bleaching gel caused. Not trying to scare you, just inform. Hope this helps.
